Folk Appeal

“Folk Appeal” presents a group of 12 artists from 6 different states and 2 continents, whose works are rooted in contemporary abstraction. True to form, each artist explores the genre with their own unique sensibility, additionally informed by folk arts, outsider art, traditional crafts, low-brow art, decorative product design, tattoo art, and grafitti.

“Coastlines and Canines”

Any dog lover around these here parts probably spends a lot of time at the beach — it is, after all, the favorite haunt of many North Shore pups. Perhaps it is these hours logged surfside with her own golden retrievers — in addition to summers of the artist’s youth spent in Rye, NH — that make dogs and oceans forever linked as two topics of choice for Joanna Doyle’s work. See these oil, acrylic and mixed-media pieces in her current exhibition.

“Otherworldly” Opening Reception

“Otherworldly” is a two dimensional exploration of the personal creativity of Montserrat students. Every artist has a drive that keeps them creating, and oftentimes that drive is of a personal nature. This show will give Montserrat students the chance to show why they love art, what they live for, and to inspire others to create the art that they truly want to be making. Work will include: original fantasy, science fiction, psychological spaces, extraordinary creatures, and exciting places.

Chelsea Berry and The Dejas

Back by popular demand, singer/songwriter Chelsea Berry performs with a tremendous edge, power and finesse. Chelsea’s presence has been described by listeners as
“compelling… she draws the entire house into her world like moths to a flame.” The Dejas open the concert.

“All in the Eyes” – Photographs by Elizabeth Neville

A Massachusetts native, Elizabeth Neville earned degrees in photography and graphic design. Currently she teaches these areas of expertise at Northeastern to both undergraduate and graduate students. She has also created a photography business connected to her main photographic interest, portraiture. Her work has been shown in many local, regional and national group shows.

The Heart in Art Reception

Featured is artwork from over 20 local artists in mediums such as painting, collage, jewelry, assemblage, photography, candles and more! Add eclectic art to your collection that pays homage to the human heart or shop for original gifts to celebrate (or protest) Valentine’s Day. 11th Annual Salem So Sweet

Brush off the winter blues at this annual celebration of chocolate, ice sculptures, and wine. Kicking off with a Wine and Chocolate tasting, the festival continues through the weekend with more than a dozen ice sculptures installed around downtown Salem.
